Unlike some contemporary artists, I do not write and play exclusively, or even primarily, for other musicians. Everything that I record is based upon a sincere desire to communicate with a normal audience. This practice stems from my belief that music is a form of communication like any other, and that the basis of all successful communication is the awareness that each of the participants must share a common language. Therefore, I work to create and to play music that I believe will be accessible to anyone who cares to take the time to listen with an open mind. I do not strive for complexity or attempt to be "modern" simply for the sake of being modern, because I believe that such efforts hinder rather than promote good communication. On the other hand, I never simplify what I am doing to the point where the essential message could be lost. In short, my intended audience is simply people who like music.
Best regards,
Dick Hindman
